Thomas Stone developed his interest in art at an early age, under the influence of his family where he was surrounded by various forms of creativity from painting, drawing, sculpting and music. He spent many years studying the arts through trips to museums, visiting art galleries to see his sister’s paintings and attended summer workshops. Bolstered in an extensive career in sculpting, graphic, drawing and music, he returned with a combination of these arts, intertwining his love of nature, abstraction, sounds and designs in each of his life-centered pieces.
Born in New Jersey, Thomas studied at Hartford Art School, University of Hartford to pursue a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts in Sculpture. He pursued his desire to learn technical approaches to sculpting by working as an apprentice at the late Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture. This hands-on education allowed him the opportunity to work with artists such as Joel Shapiro, Mel Kendrick, Claes Oldenburg, Rein Triefeldt, and many others.
His artworks show how he was creatively influenced by this collection of abstract artists. Cast metal sculptures of abstract origin depict relations to subject matter through nature and natural processes. The works flow like solid bubbles broken, manipulated and collected into bunches like grapes on a vine or something you might see under an electron microscope.

Thomas is a freelancer, currently active in the online marketing industry. He has worked on independent films and television broadcasts. He has shown his sculptures in various art exhibitions throughout the Northeast.
